Prior to joining Open Lines®, Mia received her Master of Science in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She holds additional certifications in LSVT LOUD® for children and adults living with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions, and in Teaching Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).
Mia’s clinical practice spans both pediatric and adult populations, with experience across outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, hospital, and school settings. During her graduate training, she provided motor speech intervention to individuals living with Huntington’s disease in a skilled nursing setting.
At the NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Center, Mia provided comprehensive assessment and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing for adults with neurological conditions, including Parkinson’s disease and stroke. At NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, she collaborated closely with physicians and dietitians to evaluate and rehabilitate swallowing function in patients recovering from head and neck cancer surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.
Mia also brings extensive experience working with neurodiverse students in the New York City public school system. As part of the NEST program at P.S. 297, The Stockton Community School, she provided dynamic assessment and treatment for speech sound, language, and social pragmatic disorders. Mia is passionate about fostering language development through play and incorporating each child’s personal interests into structured activities to maximize engagement.
Mia deeply values interprofessional collaboration and prioritizes close partnership with fellow clinicians, teachers, and care teams. Her goal is to provide functional, evidence-based therapy that centers each patient’s interests, experiences, and personal goals.
